Pro Faculty - Artist Development

Ranjit Barot is an Indian film score composer, music director, music arranger, drummer and singer. He has been described by guitar legend John McLaughlin as “one of the leading edges in drumming”, and is part of John McLaughlin and the 4th Dimension, touring Europe. He has been a featured drummer and arranger for R.D. Burman, Laxmikant – Pyarelal, Kalyanji – Anandji, continuing through the eras of Anu Malik and Ismail Darbar, and to the present, as arranger/ producer. Ranjit has been an integral part of some of A.R. Rahman’s work through the years. His collaborations with musicians abroad have included unique performances with artists such as John McLaughlin, Jonas Helborg, Ayden Esen, and Tim Garland.

Ranjit had been mentoring our students through the “Artist Development module” on the art of developing themselves to be stage performers that entertain their audiences at a world-class level. He spent time individually as well as in a group, helping students write, compose and arrange their tunes so that the outcome is a more professional robust musical product. Ranjit also gives our students the real world perspective by giving them insights into record labels, booking agencies, tour managers and operators and what it is like to be on the road for long periods of time so that students are prepared and know what to expect in the real world.
