Mandar Deshpande

Pro Hindustani Playback Faculty

Mandar is a Singer, Composer, Performer and Vocal Director. Being a performing vocalist and composer over 8 years, he is now doing Playback in Bollywood and Advertising Industry. After heading the Mentorship Program for students at The True School of Music he is now on Board as a Faculty for Pro Hindusthani Courses in association with Shankar Mahadevan’s Academy. He is also associated with the TSM education app as a vocalist.

His Journey in Music started as Tabla student with Pt. Chandrashekhar Vaze at the age of 5. Learning under a gurukul system he passed Madhyama Purna from Akhil Bhartiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya and meanwhile started learning Hindusthani Classical Vocals from Pt. Raghunathbua Vaze (Jaipur Gharana), Pt. Narayanrao Deshpande (Kirana Gharana) and Chandrakant Koli (Natyasangeet). He participated and won several inter school and inter college competitions around Tabla and Singing during his engineering education. As he always had music like a passion he started taking a formal training in Sound Engineering at School Of Audio Engineering, Mumbai.

After working as a Recording and Live sound engineer in several studios and venues for 4 years he formed a Band called “Moksh” and performed all over the India. The band was known to be India’s First Rag Metal Fusion Band and a well appreciated Marathi Rock Band. He also won a Best Vocalist award at a prestigious stage of Yamaha Asian Beat-2009. After headlining many of the college festivals all over, He music directed an award winning play called “Dyanoba Maza”.

He has worked over 50 one act plays which are nominated in many prestigious state level competitions like Indian National Theater, Uttunga, Umbartha, Alfa MahaKarandak etc. He also won a Best Background score Award for the Live Music he directed for a Drama in 2012. He is a registered Song Director for Several colleges in Mumbai for Youth Festivals. He recently got Launched by the singing sensation Gurdas Mann for a Bollywood Movie “Zubaan” Composed by Ashu Phatak. He is currently associated with SPIC MACAY which is the NGO works for the promotion of Classical Arts forms of India among Youth.

Diploma In Audio Production 2013 Studying at School Of Audio Engineering, Mumbai
I personally achieved a next stage towards my Audio Carrier and got in detailed experience working on subjects like Decibels, Acoustics, Analog and Digital World of Sound engineering and Audio Production.
Instrumentation Engineering 2008
Passed My Diploma In Instrumentation with second class. Electronics and Communications were my majors during this Engineering.

Pt Narayanrao Deshpande : 6 years of extensive training in guru shishya parampara.
Learnt Tabla Pt. Chandrashekhar Vaze for 8 years.

Work Experience :

1. Head Of Department-Audio Tech Support : (1st January 2015 till date):

Working at The True School Of Music I gained the maximum knowledge about Installing Sound Systems, Recording Live shows and Troubleshooting about the gear installed in the amazing premise of Studios, Auditorium and Rehearsal Rooms.

2. Freelance Sound Engineer December 2010 to December 2013 :

Working in several Studios like Aum Creations, FX Media and Pure Music Factory (My own Venture)
I composed and recorded and mixing for the Dramas, One Act Plays and Films .

3. Assistant Sound Engineer May 2008 to December 2010:

This was a studio environment where I worked on Films and Albums. I learnt about studio routing with a basic 5.1 surround setup and acoustics as well as got comfortable working on Pro Tools LE and HD with 003 Rack. Also done music production and on Logic Pro 9 and 10 and Nuendo 4 with the expert guidance of Mr. Rohit Pradhan.

Teaching Experience :

1. Mountain Leaf Academy , Vashi (2012-13): Taught Hindustani Classical music including Alankars, Raagas and Bandish in a classroom format.

2. Vaze Kelkar College of Commerce and Arts, Mulund (2013): Music Director and Vocal trainer for the Dramatics committee. Taught a group of 20 singers to perform live for one act plays.

3. Joshi Bedekar College of Commerce and Arts, Thane (2004-2009) : Music Director and Instructor for all inter college Singing (Solo and Group) competitions including Youth Festival(Mumbai University), Indian National Theatre (Rajshri Birla Foundation), ‘Umbartha’ : A state Level One Act Play Competition.

4. Vocal Projection and Technique instructor: Fatima High School Ghatkopar, Swami Vivekanand High School Vashi, Joshi Bedekar College of Arts and Commerce Thane, Vaze Kelkar College Mulund.Ruia College Matunga.
