Anand Masrani
[ Bass]

Anand, 25 is a Mumbai based musician and has actively been in the city's performing space since the last 7 years. Before finishing his civil engineering in 2017, Anand performed extensively at local college competitions with his very first band and since then, he's toured and performed with several other bands across India. Anand grew up listening to The Beatles and had the knack to be a musician from a very young age. He played the acoustic guitar in his teens, slowly developing the desire to switch to the bass guitar. He's currently in his third year at The True School of Music in Mumbai and has been under the stellar tutelage of solid bass players like Giuseppe Vitale and Gianluca Liberatore however he's been learning from the amazing Marios Menelaou since the last 2 years.

Ruhika Rao
[ Western Vocals]

Ruhika is a western singer-songwriter from Mumbai. She received her formal vocal training from the True school itself. She has been part of and is a part of multiple projects. Currently, She trains in Carnatic singing.She has been teaching for the past 3 years. She teaches at various private schools and has now joined the True school of music as a teacher. Besides music, She has a bachelor's degree in Psychology and aspires to study music therapy.

Veer Karer
[ Drums]

Veer, a drummer and educator, from Mumbai, has been playing live shows for 4 years. Having studied drum performance at the True School of Music, he has a keen interest in playing various styles of music - jazz, latin, funk, electronic music, etc. Veer has played at several venues like the NCPA and the Quarter, to name a few, as well as sessions for various acts in the live scene.

Javed Khan
[ Hindustani Vocals]

 

At a very early age, he was initiated into Classical Music by his late father Ustaad Alauddin Khan Saheb who was a fine Ghazal Singer and Tabla Player. A little later, he began receiving formal Classical Music training under his maternal grandfather Ustaad Munir Khan Saheb, the great Sarangi Player-Classical Vocalist and a beacon of the “Indore Gharana” and under Ustaad Bashir Khan Saheb of “Delhi Agra Gharana”. Ustaad Munir Khan was, in turn, a disciple of the legendary Ustaad Amir Khan Saheb – one of the greatest Classical Vocalists ever.

Coming from such a distinguished background, Javed Khan went on to acquire Graduation, Post Graduation and M.Phil Degrees in Classical Music (all from Delhi University), topping the results at each level, and winning a Gold Medal at the Master’s stage. Javed Khan has to his credit over a hundred performances including those on Television (in the ‘Indian Idol’ show where he was one of the finalists). He is versatile and performs as per the full range of his group’s repertoire.

  • Graduate in Hindustani Music (Vocal) with First Division from Hindu College, University of Delhi.
  • Masters in Hindustani Music (Vocal) with First Division from Ramjas College, University of Delhi.
  • Gold Medalist in M.A. Hindustani Music (Vocal) from University of Delhi.
  • M.Phil. in Hindustani Music (Vocal) with First Division from Faculty of Music and Fine Arts, Delhi University.
  • Languages Known – Hindi, English, Punjabi etc.

MILESTONES:

  • Empanelled in the ICCR’s (Indian Council for Cultural Relations) Reference Panel of Artists.
  • “B High Grade” artist of Ghazals from All India Radio, regularly broadcasting programmes.
  • Got the prestigious Scholarship for 2 years from Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India, in the field of Hindustani Vocal (Classical Music) in 2007.
  • Finalist in Indian Idol – 2, Popular Show on Sony T.V.
  • Won the first Prize in Mega Final of “Hero Honda Surtarang - National Singing Talent Hunt” held at Talkatora Indoor Stadium in Feb. 2003.
  • Performed in “Crescendo Festival” held at Kamani Auditorium, Delhi in 2004.
  • Performed in many prestigious programmes held in venues such as Talkatora Indoor Stadium – Delhi, Ravindra Natya Mandir – Mumbai, Kamani Auditorium – Delhi, Soochna Bhavan – Jodhpur etc.
  • Performed at the Dainik Jagran Film Festival at Meerut, in 2010.
  • Performing Artist for over 10 years.
  • Worked as Music Director on DD NATIONAL’S Drama Series, ‘Lakeerein Qismat Ki ‘and also sang the title track of the same.
  • Worked as Music Director on DD URDU’S Docu-Drama Series, Parwaaz-e-Niswaan and also sang the title track of the same.
  • Recorded “Kurbaan” song with famous singer Sonu Nigam for the movie “Waar Chhodna Yaar” (2013).

WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • Worked as a Music Teacher for three years in Vidya Shree School of Music, Kailash Colony, New Delhi. (2005-2008) .
  • Worked as Head of the Department (Music) in Indian Film & Television Institute, Meerut from September 2009 - February 2013.
  • Worked as a visiting Music Instructor in Gragi College, Delhi University for 9 months in 2010-2011.
  • Worked as Indian Music Teacher in G.D.Goenka Public School, Gurgaon, from July 2013 – July 2015.
  • Worked as Music Teacher in Pathways School (IB Board), Gurgaon, from July 2015 – May 2016.

Sambit Deshmukhya
[ Keyboard ]

He started off learning keyboards when he was 9. When he was 17 he started learning Western Classical Piano after he got inspired by his visit to Trinity College London. He learned under a teacher for some time and then started learning the instrument by himself. Later on after high school while doing his Bachelors in Computer Application he started listening to a lot of Jazz, Blues, Soul, R&B and Electronic Music and started exploring and learning Jazz by himself. After finishing his bachelor's degree in Computer Application he went on to pursue his all-time passion for music as a career which he wanted to. He also has been a Piano Teacher with Furtados School of Music for 2 years and has taught over 900 students from a lot of schools in Mumbai. He also performs with his own band 'CuttleFish' which plays a neo-soul and experimental music and currently working on their original material. He teaches Keys & Arrangement for Producers.

Sounak Saha
[ Guitar]

Born in Calcutta, India in 1991, Sounak started playing the guitar at the age of 15-16. While he was studying classical guitar, he also got inspired by contemporary rock guitar playing and started teaching himself the electric guitar with the help of YouTube/whatever source was available.

He wanted to take up music as a profession and realized the importance of music theory very early and decided to join London Centre of Creative Media in London to pursue a Bachelor degree in Music Performance. Moved to London at the age of 19 (2011) to pursue music education and acquired Bachelors of Music (Hons) in Performance under Middlesex University with an overall 2.1 score During his years in London, he studied performance/composition/arranging/production under great teachers such as Blake Wilner, Ed Speight, Tommy Emmerton, Simon Wallace, Dave O’ Higgins, Geoff Gascoyne and lots more. He also performed with various artists across multiple well-known venues, which include O2 Academy, Proud Camden, Cargo, Charlie Wright’s, Floripa, Rhythm Factory, Surya London, and various others. This gave him a lot of experience in playing in multiple situations across various genres, which includes jazz, jazz fusion, blues, rock, R&B, neo-soul, soul, funk, etc.)   Since his graduation, he has worked with Furtados School of Music as a Senior Guitar Teacher and Lead Teacher (June 2015 – June 2017) and has been conducting workshops for students and performing in India with various artists.  Now he is working at True School of Music as a guitar teacher and course developer (July 2017 – present).

“Music expresses that which cannot be put into words and that which cannot remain silent” ― Victor Hugo It is all about the music and the vibe for Kedar Sakharkar also known as DJKD. He believes in creating an atmosphere where one feels calm and liberated. For him it’s about playing records that are accessible and intrinsically groovy. In a world of preening prima donnas and professional fist-pumpers, KD is somewhat of an anomaly. It’s okay for him if you like his page or dawn his logo, but he is most happy to see you loosen up, enjoy and groove to his music. His performance is characterized by its subtlety and sophistication. His goal is to inspire and educate, to tease and tantalize, and then – when the moment is right and the hands are in the air – to give the masses the track they’ve been waiting for. KD has been involved with helping aspiring DJ professionals at The True School of Music (TSM) for the past 4 years. This includes establishing of a detailed curriculum for both beginners and pro aspirants. He also runs a growing Audio Visual Rental providing consultation services called Sound Inc. In a distinguished career of almost two decades, KD has played almost every genre of music to every kind of crowd, from commercial to cutting-edge and everything in between. His performances were not just limited to India, but also spread over Thailand, Turkey, South Africa, Italy and Sri Lanka as well. He’s just grateful that he’s been blessed with the opportunity to play records for a living. Achievements :
