Today we have a brand new video in our Live from the Auditorium series which was recorded on February 22nd 2015, at our campus during our Music Works mega seminar. Besides the power packed performance of Indus Creed (which you may have seen in our earlier video) on that day, we were graced by the presence of Salim Merchant (from the famous Bollywood composer duo – Salim-Sulaiman).

Salim (along with his brother Sulaiman Merchant) were born & brought up in Mumbai & have been musically inclined since their childhood. Together they’ve been composing music for over a decade now & they have scored for big Bollywood movies like Krrish, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, Fashion, Chak De! India & many more. Besides composing, Salim’s forte also lies in singing. He has been the judge for Indian Idol for several seasons.

After an open Q&A session with the attendees at Music Works on this day, Salim performed some of his songs along with some of our students. Watch Salim Merchant singing “Kurbaan Hua” from the movie “Kurbaan”, along with our students Jayakrishnan Unnithan (on keys), Siddharth Shankar (on guitar), Adil Kurwa (on bass) and Agneya Chikte (on drums).

This video was shot & edited by our in-house video department – Kaval Chaudhari & Ritesh Chheda. The audio was mixed by one of our sound engineering students – Drona Acharya – and produced by The True School of Music’s online content editor & curator – Reji Ravindran. Watch out for more videos in this series on our Youtube channel.
