Angelo Di Loreto, pianist and composer and Keyboard Instructor at Mumbai’s own True School of Music talks about why a formal education in music is so essential for the professional musicians of today.

I’m so happy to be here.  My name is Angelo Di Loreto, pianist and composer and Keyboard Instructor at Bombay’s own True School of Music.  I want to take this time to introduce myself and give you an insight into the incredible opportunity that True School is offering you.  I was born and raised in Buffalo, New York in the United States, and started played percussion and drums when I was 9 years old.  When I was 12, I started taking classical piano lessons and composing my own original music, and it was there I discovered that although I loved percussion, I could express myself the most on a keyboard instrument.  I have been playing classical piano, jazz, rock, and various other types of music for almost 11 years now, and have almost 8 years of professional working-musician experience.  In 2008, I moved to New York City to study at the Manhattan School of Music, where I earned my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees.  I have maintained an active professional career outside of school, participating in many different musical situations, as well as composing my own music and leading my own projects.

What I want to share with you is that there is no other opportunity like TSM anywhere else in India.  Here, we have world-class instructors (all of whom are good friends of mine from New York and the Netherlands) teaching you the necessary tools and skills on how to build you into a career-focused musician.  We bring to you the “tricks of the trade” on how to effectively play different styles of music and learn to be able to work in any musical setting you may find yourself in.  In my Keyboard Course, you have the choices to learn techniques of Jazz, Pop, Funk, Rock, Blues, R&B, and more.  We will discuss at length the artists who have made these areas of music famous and give you second-to-none training on how to execute these techniques with a group.  We will also work on building your overall musicianship, which includes theory, sight-reading, ear training, and so forth, in order to give you more versatility in the different musical adventures you have.

Being a musician in today’s world is not easy, as you may imagine.  One must constantly be seeking opportunities for himself and really be able to work in many different areas of music.  But if you understand that the music comes first, and that above all else is the most important thing you can learn, and you love what you do, then music will keep you going.  And for the first time ever in India, you have an opportunity to learn what it takes to be a professional musician in this day and age, and anything within music you want to focus on, you can do here.  That is why True School of Music is so unique and special.  We will do our best to build you into the musician you want to be, for your career and for your life!  Join us!!
